What is Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a process in which a whitening agent or gel is used to light the shade of your teeth and improve any natural discolouration.

There are 2 ways of doing it: Here at the Elite Dental Office or with our take-home kit

Take-Home Whitening Kit

Your dentist will make your custom made whitening trays that you can wear at home with whitening gel in them, you only need to use a tiny amount of whitening gel.

This process is usually done over a week or two, until the desired result is obtained.

Your dentist will check your mouth first before commencing the whitening procedure to make sure your mouth is healthy for the treatment

In-Office Whitening Procedure

This whitening is done in the dental office and you get to see the result straight after the procedure.

This is the safer way, as we can control the whitening gel and prevent it from coming in contact with other tissues in your mouth.

The gel used is stronger in the in-office whitening, therefore you get the results faster.

The whitening gel is light-activated; therefore, a blue light will be used during the whitening procedure.

Aftercare

Avoid any coloured foods for the first 48 hours after the in-office whitening procedure. In case of the take-home whitening kit use, avoid the coloured food during the period of going through teeth whitening and then 48 hours after the last use.

Some sensitivity is normal and is expected and should go away in 24 hours maximum.
