Teeth Cleaning Procedure

A typical dental procedure is a routine cleaning of teeth, otherwise referred to as prophylaxis. To remove plaque, calculus, and stains from the surface of the teeth above the gum, special tools are used.
For primary, transitional and adult dentition, dental cleaning is sufficient. An examination carried out by the dentist along with certain X-rays would possibly be included in this consultation.
A dental hygienist operating under the direction of a dentist also performs the operation. Usually, the whole procedure takes about 30 to 60 minutes as this includes:
- Preliminary chat
- Periodontal charting
- Scaling
- Polishing
- Flossing
- Fluoride treatment
- Clear-cut dental cleaning cost breakdown
For other routine physical treatments, dental cleaning is essential. Some are preparatory in nature, whereas others may be complementary or diagnostic. These include:
- full-mouth debridement,
- dental X-rays such as a bitewing,
- oral evaluation,
- fluoride varnish, and
- gingival irrigation.
